The Problem With Traditional X-Ray Positioning

Metal artifacts obscure critical details

Traditional metal components show up on X-rays, blocking root tips

Rubber dam removal wastes time

Constantly removing and replacing dams disrupts workflow

Sensors rotate unexpectedly

Round handles allow unwanted rotation during positioning

The ZyZyX Solution

  • 100% X-ray invisible materials
  • Works with rubber dams in place
  • Patented keyed shaft prevents rotation

Setup Instructions

Simple 5-step process for perfect positioning

1

Choose Your Flag

Determine which flag you need based on the quadrant:

FL-1 ULLR: Upper Left/Lower Right quadrants
FL-2 URLL: Upper Right/Lower Left quadrants
2

Prepare Your Sensor

Place your digital sensor in a fitted plastic sleeve for protection. The sensor must be fully covered by the plastic barrier sleeve for proper hygiene.

3

Prepare the Flag

Carefully remove the backing from the adhesive strip on the flag. The adhesive is designed to securely hold the sensor while allowing for easy removal after use.

4

Attach Sensor to Flag

Secure the sleeved sensor to the flag using the adhesive strip.

Important: Only apply adhesive to the plastic sleeve, never directly to the sensor
5

Adjust Handle Position

Place the sensor cable in the handle for better control during imaging. The handle can be inserted from either side for versatile positioning.

*Depending on cable thickness, wrap the cable with the fitted sleeve for optimal control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about the ZyZyX system

Usage Questions

Can I apply the flag directly to the sensor?
The sensor should be placed in a plastic barrier. This prevents bacterial transfer as well as protects the sensor from the adhesive. Applying directly to the sensor over time can split your casing. Furthermore, you lose the ability to have slight anatomical angulation if you were to do this.
I selected the wrong flag – Upper Left/Lower Right vs Upper Right/Lower Left. What can I do?
Remove the handle and insert it into the flag from the opposite direction. It will still work and is still secure.
The plastic sheath over the sensor feels sloppy. Any ideas?
Provide a slight twist over the sheath and wrap it around the handle. This is also useful on sensors with smaller diameter USB cables.

Maintenance

Are the flag ends reusable?
They are repositionable at the time of use, however they are not meant for sterilization.
I see a slight discoloration in the handle after sterilization. Why is that?
The type of material that is used to make the handle requires a special non-toxic component that has a tendency to fade. This is normal.

Technical Details

Why is the shaft of the handle not round?
There are two reasons:
  1. It keys to the flag preventing it from turning
  2. It allows the patient to bite on it with comfort and allows the sensor to be angled further
Why is this sometimes called a Positing System rather than a Positioning System?
Posit means to put, place or set which is a slightly more accurate description of what the tool does. However, too few people know this term and think it's a typo.
