Usage Questions
Can I apply the flag directly to the sensor?
The sensor should be placed in a plastic barrier. This prevents bacterial transfer as well as protects the sensor from the adhesive. Applying directly to the sensor over time can split your casing. Furthermore, you lose the ability to have slight anatomical angulation if you were to do this.
I selected the wrong flag – Upper Left/Lower Right vs Upper Right/Lower Left. What can I do?
Remove the handle and insert it into the flag from the opposite direction. It will still work and is still secure.
The plastic sheath over the sensor feels sloppy. Any ideas?
Provide a slight twist over the sheath and wrap it around the handle. This is also useful on sensors with smaller diameter USB cables.
Maintenance
Are the flag ends reusable?
They are repositionable at the time of use, however they are not meant for sterilization.
I see a slight discoloration in the handle after sterilization. Why is that?
The type of material that is used to make the handle requires a special non-toxic component that has a tendency to fade. This is normal.
Technical Details
Why is the shaft of the handle not round?
There are two reasons:
- It keys to the flag preventing it from turning
- It allows the patient to bite on it with comfort and allows the sensor to be angled further
Why is this sometimes called a Positing System rather than a Positioning System?
Posit means to put, place or set which is a slightly more accurate description of what the tool does. However, too few people know this term and think it's a typo.
Can I use it as a weapon?
Why is there always someone that asks this?
